If you require help accessing Google Drive or if you need printed resources, please contact the school office. We are here to ensure every child can continue their learning wherever they are.
Remote Learning![]()
At Woodsetts Primary School, our aim is to ensure that learning can continue to the highest standard if children are unable to attend school due to illness (where they are well enough to work), isolation, or in the event of school closure such as severe weather. We want every child to feel connected, supported and able to continue their learning from home.
Our Approach
Remote learning at Woodsetts is designed to be:
• Accessible – easy to find, clear to follow and achievable with minimal resources
• Consistent – following the same routines and expectations as class learning
• Flexible – allowing families to complete learning at times that work best for them
• Supportive – ensuring children and parents know how to get help if needed
We recognise that every family’s circumstances are different, and we work in partnership to provide what each child needs to stay engaged and make progress.
Where Learning Can Be Accessed
All remote learning materials are stored on our Google Drive, which is linked through the school website. This offers:
• Daily learning activities that mirror class curriculum content
• Clear instructions and guidance for children and parents
• Resources such as worksheets, videos and reading materials
• Upload points for submitting completed work where appropriate
Children are familiar with accessing these folders, as our Google Drive is used regularly in class to share resources and learning.
Online Learning Tools and Platforms
To support learning at home, we continue to use the same high-quality online platforms that children use in school, such as:
• White Rose Maths resources
• Little Wandle phonics and reading materials
• Times Tables Rock Stars
• Spelling Shed
• Oak National Academy video lessons (when appropriate)
These tools allow children to practise key skills at a pace that suits them.
Communication and Support
If a child is absent but well enough to complete learning:
• Class teachers will direct families to the correct Google Drive learning folder
• Staff will check in to offer support where needed
• Completed tasks may be brought back into school or shared online
During longer closures (e.g., due to weather), we will:
• Communicate clearly via Arbor, website updates, Class Dojo and social media
• Ensure children have access to meaningful learning activities for the duration of the closure
• Provide phone or online support if families require help accessing or understanding learning tasks
Ensuring Progress and Wellbeing
Remote learning is not just about keeping up with lessons. We encourage:
• Regular reading
• Creative and physical activities
• Routine and connection with school
• Breaks away from screens
Children’s wellbeing remains at the centre of our approach. We want learning at home to feel manageable, supportive and purposeful.
