Admissions

At Woodsetts Primary we use Rotherham Local Authorities Admissions Department to handle all our admissions and appeals. We are therefore bound by their criteria and policies. You can access a copy of our Admissions Policy in the Policy Section of our website.

Parents must apply for a full-time school place through Rotherham Council’s Education Admissions Office using the telephone number or email below.

  • 01709 823777
  • admissions.enquiries@rotherham.gov.uk

The following link will take you directly to Rotherham's Local Authority information about admissions.

There is also information about admissions on the White Woods Primary Academy Trust Website at:

Children are normally expected to attend the school in whose catchment area they live although parents do have a right to express a preference for an alternative school. The school's current admission policy is operated by the LA on the school's behalf and as such any requests for admission will require LA approval.

Parents whose child transfers from another school will need to complete a Primary Transfer Form. Parents of any new admission are always welcome to visit the school prior to any applications being made, please contact the Head teacher to arrange such visits. When a child is registered for admission to school the child's birth certificate must be shown to the Head teacher.

Admission authorities will try to meet parental preferences where they can, but because there are limits on the number of places available at each school, it is not always possible to do so.

Where a school is oversubscribed, places will be allocated by reference to the Local Authority admission criteria or an admission policy. The Head teacher will be pleased to advise parents seeking admission for their children.

If you wish to consider applying for your child to attend our school, you are very welcome to visit. The Head Teacher or a member of the leadership team will be happy to show you round and answer any questions you may have.

If you telephone the school on 01909 550758 the office staff will be happy to make an appointment for you.

If your child was born between 1 September 2016 and 31 August 2017, you need to apply now for a primary school place for September 2021.

The closing date for receipt of applications is 15 January 2021.

If you apply online you can view/change your application by logging back into your account. No changes can be made using the on-line service after 15 January 2021.

If you submit your application online you can log into your account on 16 April 2020 to see your school place offer.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us should you have any thing you wish to ask or discuss.

The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 defines a disabled person as one who has a physical or mental impairment which has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on a persons ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities.

Most children with Special Needs will not be disabled within the meaning of the Act. The admission of pupils with disabilities is considered in the first instance in the same way as non-disabled pupils.

Further considerations are made in the light of need and accessibility. It is the school's approach to accommodate pupils with disabilities should parents wish and individual needs are planned for to prevent any pupils being treated less favourably than other pupils. In practice we ensure that classroom and extra curricular activities encourage the participation of all pupils, including those categorised as having Special Educational Needs. Staff organise human and physical resources within the school to increase access to learning and participation by all pupils.

If your child has a disability of special educational need and you wish to access a place at Woodsetts Primary, please contact us to discuss your child's needs. We will be happy to chat, advise and support.

Please see our Accessibility Policy and Plan in the Policies Section for more info.
