School Governors

Chair of Governors

Positive relationships between govenors and schools are based on trust, openness and transparency. Effective governing bodies systematically monitor their school's progress towards meeting agreed development tagets. Information about what is going well and why, and what is not going well and why, is shared. Governors consistently ask for more information, explanation or clarification. This makes a strong contribution to robust planning for improvement and ultimately prepares the school for outstanding results.

Welcome To Woodsetts Primary School

jwWelcome to Woodsetts Primary School. We are part of the Woodsetts and Anston Brook Federation and together the schools provide an ambitious and thriving learning environment for our children. Our school motto “Reach for the Stars” drives our continued success.

Committed to each individual pupil, we seek to ensure their academic achievement and personal growth. We have created a vibrant learning environment where children can develop into reflective, independent learners. Working in partnership with parents and carers, we support our children to be ambitious, achieve their full potential and to make a positive contribution throughout their lives.

We hope you find our website both interesting and informative. If you would like to visit our school, we would be delighted to show you around.

Leave Of Absence During Term Time

The School Attendance Policy informs parents / carers about the rules when applying to take leave of absence during term time.  The policy is written in accordance with statutory regulations.  It is not an entitlement to take a holiday in term time.  No parent can demand leave of absence for the purpose of a family holiday by right.  A completed application form must be submitted to the Headteacher in advance of the period of absence.  It will only be granted if  "exceptional circumstances" exist. (An example of exceptional circumstance is an Armed Services family where the parent in the Armed Services is home on leave).  The maximum leave of absence which may be granted in any single academic year is 5 days. Unauthorised leave may be referred to the local authority.

Please click HERE to view the Attendance Policy in full.
School Meals Menu

A new menu is now in place from November 2015

We have introduced a banding system where children have a choice of two hot meals or a grab a bag sandwich.  This is to support the government's Universal Free School Meals (UFSM) to provide all children in Foundation Stage 2, year 1 & 2 with a free school meal. Please click HERE to view an information leaflet.

For KS2 children (years 3, 4, 5 & 6) a Primary School Meal from September costs £2.00 per day and £10.00 per weekPlease click on the image on the left to view the current menu.

Many thanks, Woodsetts Primary School

Dinner money should be handed to your child's CLASS TEACHER every MONDAY morning in a NAMED ENVELOPE.

Unfortunately we cannot issue change; all money will be carried over to the following week.

Rotherham Charter – Building Trust by Promoting Equal Voice

trcKate Beasley (parent volunteer) and Helen Holden (Ass SENCO) attended the first ever Rotherham Charter course earlier this year with a view to improving relationships between schools and the wider community, giving pupils and parents a voice.

The charter has five main areas of focus: care; inclusion; communication; partnership; and trust. With this in mind, parents and professionals within the Rotherham area shared their views and experiences, looking at best practice and areas for improvement. This is the first time that parents have been invited to share their views on many aspects of school life alongside their school staff. Many open and honest opinions were shared and The Rotherham Charter gave guidance for any improvements that were needed.

At Woodsetts and Anston Brook, we were already undertaking many of the recommendations and, in some areas, such areas parent involvement, leading the way. Further parental involvement has been introduced by the school opening its doors to parents and family members every Friday morning. We also now offer parent workshops in all key stages, from Foundation upwards, where we share how we teach your children numeracy, literacy and phonics.

Mrs Holden's specific area of involvement over both of our schools is supporting children with Special Educational Needs and their families. Following the Charter guidance, changes have been made regarding how the review meetings are conducted, giving pupils and parents equal voice and offering more all-round care with our wider support team. Working together with Kate has made a real difference, helping them both to understand how small changes can make a big difference. Something as simple as Kate now coming into school, with some other parents, to help sort our reading books into the correct colour bandings and keep our school library in order. We welcome anyone that would like to support learning within our schools and if you would like to become more involved, please contact our school office. Thank you for your support.
