What would your perfect school be like?

Welcome To Woodsetts Primary School

jwWoodsetts Primary School is a successful and effective school.  We secure high standards as a result of our teachers having high expectations of pupils’ behaviour and participation, and achieve continuous improvement for all our children. All of our children enjoy coming to school, as a result behaviour is outstanding. This is underpinned by the schools exemplary safeguarding procedures.

Through our Thematic Curriculum we ensure all children’s experiences are challenging, realistic and enjoyable.  In addition, Woodsetts Primary School offers an extensive range of visits and visiting professionals which enrich the learning and develops links with the outside world alongside extensive extra-curricular provision.

Pupils get along well together because of the caring and supportive ethos the school has created. This ensures all our children achieve their potential and all children have a positive outlook on learning.

The school works closely together with parents, carers and other professionals to ensure that inclusion for all is top of the agenda. We believe that together we can enhance the life chances of all our children.

Best Wishes

Mrs Jane Walker

Executive Headteacher

Leave Of Absence During Term Time

The School Attendance Policy informs parents / carers about the rules when applying to take leave of absence during term time.  The policy is written in accordance with statutory regulations.  It is not an entitlement to take a holiday in term time.  No parent can demand leave of absence for the purpose of a family holiday by right.  A completed application form must be submitted to the Headteacher in advance of the period of absence.  It will only be granted if  "exceptional circumstances" exist. (An example of exceptional circumstance is an Armed Services family where the parent in the Armed Services is home on leave).  The maximum leave of absence which may be granted in any single academic year is 5 days. Unauthorised leave may be referred to the local authority.

School Meals Menu

A new menu is now in place from April 2015

We have introduced a banding system where children have a choice of two hot meals or a grab a bag sandwich.  This is to support the government's Universal Free School Meals (UFSM) to provide all children in Foundation Stage 2, year 1 & 2 with a free school meal. Please click HERE to view an information leaflet.

For KS2 children (years 3, 4, 5 & 6) a Primary School Meal from September costs £2.00 per day and £10.00 per weekPlease click on the image on the left to view the current menu.

Many thanks, Woodsetts Primary School

Dinner money should be handed to your child's CLASS TEACHER every MONDAY morning in a NAMED ENVELOPE.

Unfortunately we cannot issue change; all money will be carried over to the following week.

Skills Show

 The Skills Show 2015

As you know, a key part of what we do in school is designed to help our pupils to discover what they are good at and what they enjoy, as they start to consider their future life choices. But sometimes, learning about careers in a classroom may not spark their imaginations!

We are delighted to let you know that The Skills Show is returning to the NEC Birmingham for a fourth year this November, and would urge you to consider visiting the event, on Saturday 21st November, where the focus is on families, as we think it is a great way to start our pupils thinkingabout the world of work and exploring a wide variety of possible careers in a fun and interactive way.

A visit to The Skills Show is both an enjoyable and an educational day out for all the family with plenty to see and do, including:

Have a Go at loads of new activities, from hairdressing to stonemasonry and electronics – maybe challenge the family to see who has some serious skills?

Talk to a wide range of employers, including O2, Jaguar Land Rover, BAE Systems, Toyota (or others) about what it takes to succeed in their business.

Watch demonstrations of skills by talented apprentices and students.

Be inspired by young competitors taking part in the finals of the 60 WorldSkillsUK Skills

Competition Finals – they are the best of the best and could ultimately represent the UK

against the rest of the world at WorldSkills Abu Dhabi in 2017.

Discuss opportunities and future paths to success with independent careers advisers across the event.

So why not visit the show with your family?
