Woodsetts Church are holding their Harvest Festival on the 29th September 2017.
The church supports the Archer Project at Sheffield Cathedral. At harvest time, they donate non-perishable food for the Centre at Sheffield Cathedral, where homeless and at-risk people can come for breakfast and lunch, have a shower, get medical and dental advice.
There is a similar project for Rotherham, called Shiloh, which their sister churches at Firbeck and Letwell support. The following list is what is most popular with clients:
Pot Noodles, tinned meals, tinned vegetables, Pasta in Sauce, Mugshots, tinned baked beans, tinned meat or fish, breakfast cereals and sugar.
The Project always needs: Men’s jeans sizes 30-32, Men’s jumpers/hoodies medium/large, Women’s tops and bottoms , Trainers size 8-10, Underwear and socks - all types and sizes and Waterproof coats.
They have a permanent collection at church so these can be passed on to them at any time, especially Thursday mornings when there is always someone in church, or they will collect from school if any donations could be brought in by the 28th September.
At Christmas time they donate Shower gel and shampoo, Suncream and Aftersun for the street sleepers. who need it all year round.
All contributions gratefully received!
